The original Omak Senior Center started in 1976 after the group bought the house behind the Methodist Church. Every purchase or additions have
been achieved without accruing any loans or debt due to the tireless efforts by the volunteers. A core group of ladies including Evelyn Butler,
Hazel Burnett, Helen Cox, Ruth Rocky as well as others worked together to raise the initial funds needed to start the center. They made and sold
quilts, hunting vests and furniture in order to fund the project. During the early days they would hold potlucks on Sundays for the members.
Facility rentals, fundraising breakfasts and the Thrift Store also contributed to meeting the financial needs early on.
Later additions include the dining room in 1989 which provides hot meals twice a week and in 2018 Sully's Activity Room which now facilitates a
private area for our members to enjoy dancing, games, exercise, a friendly game of pool, foot care and special meetings.
As we gratefully acknowledge the vision by the initial group we are excited as we look to the future for creating a special place for our seniors
in our area to recreate and socialize together as a community.
